Body scan meditation to develop focus and concentration

Body scan meditations are a fantastic exercise in focus and concentration. They increase awareness and can bring a lot of insight into the mind, body, emotions, how they interrelate, and what your patterns of thoughts are! This 17 minute practise can be done standing, sitting or lying down. If you fall asleep try standing or sitting next time, or use it to go to sleep - haha! 😊

With any meditation practice it's important to throw away your expectations about how it should feel and what you should experience. Every meditation is different, every moment is unique! All you have to do is be curious and kind and allow each moment to be as it is. And, yes, this includes noticing that there are lots of thoughts this moment or noticing that you keep getting completely distracted. Then keep persistently bringing the mind back to the focus, again and again. Meditation is a training for the mind and the meditations that don’t go so β€œwell” are a wonderful opportuntity to learn about the mind, body and emotions with some gentle curiosity.
